SnapBoard
A lightweight dashboard companion for SnapDock. Built for organizing projects, tracking documents, and keeping your workspace clean. Currently in alpha — beta builds arriving soon.
What is SnapBoard?
SnapBoard is a minimal, local‑first kanban companion for SnapDock. It lives in your dock, slides out from any screen edge, and gives you a lightweight board for notes, files, and quick tasks — all stored locally on your machine.
SnapBoard is currently in Alpha. The new card architecture (markdown editing, file attachments, JSON persistence) is live, but still early and not yet security‑hardened. Expect rapid iteration as we move toward the first Beta milestone.
Important:
SnapBoard is functional but not yet secure. File paths, markdown content, and board data are stored locally without sandboxing or validation. Hardening and safety layers will be added before the Beta release.
The latest Alpha builds introduce the new card system:
- Markdown editing with live preview
- File drag‑and‑drop (stores absolute paths)
- New editor modal
- JSON persistence with migration
- Clean UI and logic separation
These features form the foundation for the upcoming Beta UI and deeper SnapDock integration.

Why People Love SnapBoard
Lightweight & Fast
SnapBoard opens instantly and stays out of the way. A clean, minimal board that feels effortless to use.
Markdown‑Powered Cards
Every card supports markdown editing, live preview, and file attachments — perfect for quick notes or task details.
Local‑First
All board data is stored locally using JSON persistence. No accounts, no syncing, no cloud dependency.
Looking Ahead: SnapBoard + SnapDock V3
SnapBoard is being designed to work seamlessly with the upcoming SnapDock V3 engine. One of the core goals is to let SnapBoard generate virtual workspaces — structured project contexts that SnapDock V3 can open directly.
These virtual workspaces will allow you to define:
- Which files SnapDock should open
- Which folders belong to the project
- Card‑linked documents and attachments
- Workspace metadata for future V3 features
As SnapDock V3 matures, SnapBoard will evolve into a lightweight project hub — a place to organize tasks, notes, and files before launching directly into your writing environment.
